Six construction companies vie for contract to renovate Lake Worth casino
LAKE Worth — Six construction firms want to control the renovation with the historic casino constructing at Lake Price Beach front.
Metropolis staffers opened the responses to a request for qualifications Wednesday ! A choice committee will review them upcoming week just before hearing presentations from the organizations at metropolis hall around the afternoon of Oct. 25.
The six companies that submitted responses are:
* Kast Building Co. of West Palm Beach front.
* Annunziata Normal Contracting of Lake Well worth.
* The Morganti Group, based in Danbury, Conn., with southeast regional offices in West Palm Beach front.
* Straticon Construction Services of Richland, Mich.
* Kaufman Lynn Common Contractors of Boca Raton.
* Hedrick Brothers Building Co. of West Palm BCH.
The town is seeking a business to manage the renovation of the 1922 casino developing on an “at risk” basis, meaning the business would need to spend for any expenses exceeding the $6 million budget.

A sample contract might be given to the development firms Tuesday . The top-ranked firm will likely be chosen Oct. 25 and is going to be scheduled to negotiate a ultimate contract with the commission Oct. 27.
Commissioner Scott Maxwell stated the town really should have included the $6 million spending limit within the original solicitation for building companies.
“We’re just moving way too fast,” Maxwell explained.
In a conceptual design presented Sept. 14, REG Architects said the $6 million expense estimate for the renovation contains a $1 million cushion for unforeseen complications. The agency is expected to present its last conceptual design to commissioners Tuesday !!!
If all goes as planned, town hopes to break ground around the casino renovation upcoming summer.
The town plans to borrow $6 million from its investment portfolio to pay for the renovation, then take out a bank loan and pay back itself back with interest after the building is restored and occupied in 2013.
